Buprenorphine is a narcotic that is not approved for use in dogs or cats even though it is used fairly often. It doesn’t come in an oral form but the injectable form is given orally as it is tasteless and works well as an oral solution. This medication is rapidly gaining favor as the preferred narcotic for use in cats.
If a dose is missed, give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give your pet two doses at once.
