Chloramphenical is an antibiotic used for infections. Rarely, it is very toxic to humans and therefore it is banned for use in food-producing animals under penalty of law. Pregnant women or children should NEVER handle this drug.
anemia, vomiting and diarrhea, lack of appetite, depression. There are quite a few drug interactions so tell the veterinarian other medications your pet may be on.
It would be advisable to wear gloves when handling this drug. If you need to grind up this medication, you should wear a mask.
