Ophthalmic drops or ointment
Idoxuridine is an antiviral medication used to treat viral infections of the eye, usually in cats. It is not a commercially available product so it must be compounded.
Drops usually have to be refrigerated. Follow directions on container. You may have to apply eye medication every 2-6 hours. If giving more than one medication, you should allow at lease 5 minutes between medications as not to wash out the previous medica
It may cause the eye to sting when first put in the eye. Ointments can blur vision for just a few minutes after administration. You should watch your pet for a short time to make sure it is safe.
